| This chapter presents facility and client data by State or jurisdiction. Facilities operated by Federal agencies are included in the States in which the facilities are located, although these facilities may have clients from other States. |
| These tables are presented for reference only. Care should be taken in drawing any conclusions about differences between States. As discussed in Chapter 1, States differ in their systems of licensure/certification and disbursement of public funds. These factors affect the scope of facilities included in UFDS for each State, and it may create artifactual differences among States. Also, no adjustments were made for survey non-response. In smaller States especially, non-participation of even one or two large facilities can affect findings. |
| Table 5.1 details the 1998 UFDS survey response rate. Table 5.2 summarizes the numbers of treatment facilities and clients by State or jurisdiction. Table 5.3 presents, for the 50 States and the District of Columbia, the number of clients in treatment by substance abuse problem and the number in treatment per 100,000 population (aged 12 and over). Tables 5.4-5.11 provide State-level detail on tables presented in earlier chapters and will not be discussed. |
